Dave Karraker, president of Raptor Communications and former Communications VP at Compari Group, talks to Angee about what makes the spirits business cool, as well as the realities of working in this highly regulated industry.

Dave is the president of Raptor Communications, a PR and marketing consultancy in San Francisco focusing on the spirits industry. Previously, Dave was the Vice President of Communications North America for Campari Group, the world’s sixth-largest premium wine and spirits company. In his 12-year tenure he focused on creating consumer relationships through engagement, sharing, conversation, and education – all of which leads to advocacy. His duties covered influencer relations, public relations, social media, events, licensing, philanthropy, partnerships, and celebrity marketing. Campari America’s 30+ brand portfolio features Aperol, SKYY Vodka, Wild Turkey, Grand Marnier, Espolòn Tequila, and, of course, Campari.

Dave has more than three decades of marketing and communications experience working on some of the world’s most engaging brands, including Sony, Virgin, Martha Stewart, Stoli, Maker’s Mark, Microsoft, Kmart, and Sega. A former television reporter for NBC and CBS, his most humiliating moment came from his appearance on Wheel of Fortune…he solved two puzzles and still didn’t win.
